The Tail of a Train: The City of Truro was the 2021 winner of the “Cornwall International Male Choir Composition Contest” (CIMCF) An a cappella piece in the style of a historic folk ballad, it features a tenor soloist with accompanying TTBB choir. It was inspired by the historic 19th C train and its inventor, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the UK's Great Western Railway, George Jackson Churchward. Churchward is in fact, this composer’s Great Uncle!

A live interview about what inspired the composer to write this TTBB choral piece for the 2021 CIMCF choral competition. Recorded during the awards ceremony, it touches on the remarkable serendipity that brought this piece into being.

Performed by the Radiance Choir and friends, from their virtual concert COLLABORATION. Sung by Graveyard Girls (dir. Lauren Kastanas), Mägi Ensemble (dir. Heather MacLaughlin Garbes), Sound City Singers (dir. Johanna Olson), and Radiance (dir. Markdavin Obenza).

This SATB work was composed as a part of an ongoing project of writing community-based choral music that communicates the message of hope. Premiered in Providence, R.I. by Collegium Ancora, directed by Vince Edwards.
